Student Tales

Jessica  Hepple (2010/07/29)

I went tubing the other day!!! It was great, the second time I went in though I decided to not wear board shrts - just bikini bottoms. as I went around a corner, I went flying off the tube and my bottoms went flying off me, luckily I caught them around my ankles, so I quickly pulled them up again - still very embarressing though! American sizing - On an exchange student weekend we were camping over in a school cafeteria and had permission to use the school pool. Some rotex were going off to Walamrt to buy some stuff, and so me and Bianca another student went with to buy swimming costumes. While we were there I thoguht that I might as well pick up some undies. I got what I thoguht was the right size, because Iwas that size in jeans. So we got back, went swimming and everything was great, then I opened my new knickers and took them out - they were HUGE!! literally 3 times the size of me. Luckily Kristin (rotex) was doing a late night run back to Walmart so I quickly asked to go with and changed my undies, but not before everybody heard the stroy and I had to hold up my undies for everyone to see - was really funny thoguh! turns out my size was half the size I got!!!

I know how it sounds... but attitude is every thing.. As long as its in the right direction... Things will go well.. Put your mind in the right place.... And your attitude in a better place... and no matter what happens.. things will go well.. as long as you stay strong... THERE IS NO PATH TO HAPPINESS... HAPPINESS IS THE PATH!

Experince is not certain a good feeling, sometimes one has to fall hard to realise what he needs in life, Taiwan is a really nice place but the rules are very difficult and will most of the toimes get you into situations that you do not wish to be in. The best thing to do is not get angry and act in a manner which you will end up regreting. People here are very loving caring and they are friendly too, they always offer to help always, smiling at them always makes them feel comfortable talking to you, in that way you will be able to learn alot of things from them. My experince so far has been decent had ups and downs but i certainly took the positive out of all the situations that i faced.

Jessica  Hepple (2010/06/02)

On ething about dogs I found that if you have aball in your hand, and a lake in front of you they will go mad. my next host dog (yes they are real) and I were outsdie today. I've just moved host families and am living on the lake! I stood on the pier while she ran around in a circle in the water then keept on fetching a ball I kept o9n chucking out. Vay vay fun! CANT' BELIEVE i'VE BEEN HERE NEARLY 5MTNHS! times really flown, and I feel now like a real americana! from Jersey shore, to see the statue of liberty to Cooperstown and even prom (which is really cool, and was at Bristol Harbour, by mountains and a one of the finger lakes!)and ofcourse getting a new haircut, and sipping virgin margaritas at a mexian bar, in the middle of nowhwere while being dared to eat a taco with extra hot sauce on it by your host dad, and tackling a hot drummer guy at a campsite while playing barefoot soccer, and how can I forget other ezchange students and the weekends!its all really awesome, time of your life, this is one experiance we will truly never get back, so we must live it to the fullest today! Hope everyone is having an amazing spectacular time in their countries! Someone cool me down - its to fricken hot here! and onyl spring!

Alyssa Neimark (2010/06/02)

I can't believe the World Cup is in 9 days!!!!!!!!!!! It seems like yesterday that it was still at 200 days!

landiwe khumalo (2010/05/14)

:) i love DEUTSCHLAND!!!!

Jessie Oldknow (2010/05/03)

Traveling around Thailand this last month has been absolutely magical! I was also able to partake in the Songkran festival which is celebrated by having water fights on the streets. It was so much fun! I also got to see fire flies for the first time while on a river tour at night and swam on the most stunning beaches and islands. Snorkeling was beautiful as well, seeing so many fish so close was amazing. I was so lucky to be able to go on an elephant ride around the ruins of a temple. Such an experience getting up close with such beautiful and large creatures!

anna-lena jensen (2010/05/03)

Last month i went to durban. we stayed at a private beach and every morning we went there for a walk. I saw dolphins the first time in my life ! It was amazing :) I also went to ushaka and was able to swim with the sharks .. it was awesome !! :) Dont ever want to leave Africa !

Bruno Keil (2010/05/01)

Erin Jemma Byrne (2010/04/25)

I have been having an absolutely wonderful time in France. The snow is nearly all melted and the flowers are starrting to bloom. Spring is definately in the air and summer holidays are just around the corner. I am absolutely loving France. Thank you to everyone at Rotary who has made this exchange possible for me and for changing my life so completely. You have realy made a difference in my life. THANK YOU!

Thapelo Dibaga (2010/04/19)

The experinces i had here, are ones words can not describe in short i will say that everything is well, and i am very happy and proud to be here representing my nation and me understanding the language makes it so much easier to live from day to day. The public transport here is very very good, i love it cause i can get anywhere using it. I do not have much to say really as what i ahve been experincing i fail to put it in writting.

Frinette Hall (2010/04/11)

I miss austria everyday of my life!! Its almoust 2 years back and I cant forget about the most amazing time I had there.. so advise to those on exchange.. MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY DAY>> WRITE A DIARY< TAKE PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING BECAUSE YOU WILL LOOK BACK!! LIVE EVERYDAY LIKE ITS YOUR LAST!!!

Jessie Oldknow (2010/04/10)

I've been having an amazing time! Not having to go to school (because of school holidays) is so great as I get to fill my day doing what I want, especially as a normal school day is so long and doesn't allow you to do much else after school. I can't wait for the trip down to the south of Thailand tomorrow for a week and then the Rotary tour the week after! Will be a blast!

Erin Jemma Byrne (2010/03/28)

I am in France at the moment for the year. It has been an absolutely wonderful experience so far and I am loving every minute of it. There have been a few difficulties, but every exchange student foes through those hard times. I have learnt to just keep my head high and continue through my most amazing life changing experience.

Thapelo Dibaga (2010/03/13)

The best experience by far here in taiwan was experincing the earthquake, i know this sounds stupid as the earthquake kills thousands of people, but the experience is just breath taking, i was at school on the 4th fllor when it happened, i felt the whole building shaking as if i was inbed and someone jumped on the bed and i moved. When it happened i thought maybe someone was pushing me from the side only too se that no noone was touching me, so i was abit scared and i do not even recall how long it lasted but then as soon as it stopped the girl that sits next to me said "Earthquake"....well i will never forget that day and how it felt like.

mirranda makhubele (2010/03/06)

Spending time with other exchange students really help you enjoy your time while on exchange..

Jessica Hepple (2010/02/27)

I went skiing for the first time - it was awesome!!! there was an exchange student skiing weekend, and before I went my host dad decided that I should get a feel for ski's so he walked me outside put cross country ski's on my feet gave me 2 poles and told me to just slide forward and push on my poles. He then walked back inside, and told me to have fun!!! I didn't know what to do, and the next time my host dad came outside he found me hands out, legs apart in a half splits! He then tried to help me up, and I only sunk lower - I was sore in places I never knew could be sore! the ski weekend then came and was awesome, I ended up getting quite a few injuries, and skied more on my bum than anything else, but it was awesome and wouldn't take back the experiance for the world, hanging out with others from all over the world, eating sandwiches for dinner, and skiing down the slopes - amazing!!!

Alyssa Neimark (2010/02/02)

don't be run over by your host parent. it's not lekker.

anna-lena jensen (2010/02/01)

I must say... I always enjoyed my Exchange year and all the new Experiences, but yesterday was one of the most amazing days ever !! I went to the lionparc. First I thought it would be just like the krueger nationalparc just smaller, but then I saw , that I was wrong . I could play with lions and touch them and feed a Giraffe !! I think that is one of the experiences I will never forget in my life .. it was just incredible !!

Bruno Keil (2010/01/30)

Can this place get any better... lol... I'm having a ball!!!... i've only been here a week but it feels like i belong here... you can just breathe... Bruno Keil (2010/01/24)

anna-lena jensen (2009/12/23)

When i went down to the coast i coudlnt believe how lucky i am to spend a year in this beautfiul country!! I spent lots of time at the beach ( got a very dark tan) and i went to an aquarium with my Hostfamily , where we had a lot fun :) Also its very different to have a warm christmas, thats one thing i could never get used to :) Otherwise I am enjoying my time and i am looking forward to make lots of new experiences.

pieter le roux rossouw (2009/12/09)

Guilherme Lopes (2009/12/08)

Well, I just wanna say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this amazing year in my life. Without you guys this wouldn't be possible. Thank you for hosting me and arranging the best club for me, the best school and the best host families. Thanks a lot for the opportunity! It was a year that changed my life, changed me, changed who I am.

anna-lena jensen (2009/12/05)

Gold reef city-WOW!!! What an experience! I enjoyed learning about how Johannesburg was formed and going down into the mine. At first I was really nervous to go so deep under ground but soon realised it was alll worth it. The darkness, however was scary, especially for someone like me who is afraid of the dark! :) It was then great fun to enjoy the wild rides and a delicious South African wrap. It was a day filled with fun and laughter, which I will NEVER forget! Another fun experience was when I had the opportunity to spend some time with another German exchange student. Kerstin and I had fun chatting and sharing our experiences. We had fun just relaxing by the pool and cooking for my host family. :) The Kruger National Park will be something I will ALWAYS remember. I brought my German luck and we got to see the big 5 with their babies, all in one day!!! It was a lot of fun to be with my friend and share the experience. It was awesome! :)

Hello! everyone good luck in holiday have a good holiday.

Alyssa Neimark (2009/12/03)

Word from the wise: do not eat caesar salad if you don't like anchoives. you may just be forced to eat a giant muffin to get the nasty taste of nemo out of your mouth.

Rozelle de Wet (2009/12/01)

Hey people !! See you guys soon!!

Maddie Johnson (2009/11/30)

I just had the most fabulous month. I got to do the Cape Tour and that was simply amazing. I really want to go back. My favorite part was Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope. Those places are amazing and I really want to go back soon.

Chris Catt (2009/11/30)

Cant wait for Christmas poolside. Thats like a first for an American used to meter deep snow at Christmas.

Tebogo Mokoena (2009/11/26)

Hi everyone! Wow! I can't believe that my exchange is coming to an end. Time flies when you're having a fun. I surely had a blast and I would do it all over again if I had the opportunity. Preparing to go back home is sad but also exciting. I can't wait to see my family and friends. I miss South African and the delicious home made food. Like they say, there is no place like home. It's a bitter sweet feeling preparing to come back home.

Charlie Lertphorncharoen (2009/11/23)

Cape Town is so cool. I need to go back again haha.

hylton miller (2009/11/19)

haha i havent written on this in a while so at of stuff has happened since last time. haha how to start, how do you tell some one the feeling you get, when you have had a year of total bliss. Being here in denmark, i think has been a blesing for me, because at this time in my life it is perfect. the way the people live and just everything is just who i wanted to be or the way i would want to live right now! i think that when i started or when i decided to go on exchange, i was very closed minded aout what the world has to offer. i didnt think that exchange was going to be like this, i don't know it seems to have some how turned out to be better than anything i could have dreamed for. i had a exchange weekend get together last month, and i was talking to an american friend of mine, she told me smething that i thought is so true. she said that the only thing that she found as a bad thing on ecchagne is, that you make such good friends in the older exchagne students. you could even become best friedns with them and then half way through, they have to leve and you are left with that feeling of losing people you love. and so have to start over again. to me this is true because my oldies were very very good friends of mine and it is pai ful to see people that you have come so close to and love so much leave and there is that chance that you never get to see them again. i dont want who ever is reading this to think that im trying to ut you off exchange. I still believe that this the best thing i have ever done in my life, but i do want you to know that, exchange is just like life there are ups and downs and its not just a holiday. there will be times when you dont want to do it any more. when you are going to miss home,. but the amont of things and people and families you get to make is so much more worth it. to the other out bound exchangees, im very sorry but it looks like that i wont be able to come to the get to gether, because my flight is on that day haha but i wish and hope that all of your years have been so fun, exciting and revealing as mine has. i will never ever forget the people, the places or the momories i have made here this year. :D

Delise Marais (2009/11/15)

Hi Everyone Wow exchange goes so fast, I can't believe I'm going back to S.A in only 6weeks time, but before that I will go to Lapland and experience a white/Finnish Christmas! I am soooo excited! P.S To all the people who went in Jan miss you guys so much and hope we can all get together again. Lots of Love Delise Marais

pieter rossouw (2009/11/10)

anna-lena jensen (2009/11/02)

This is now the second month i am here. I think a made soo many new experiences, hat it would be to much to write everything down, but I ll just start telling a bit of my new life in Southafrica. First i did all these little things like going to movies etc. but that was a new experience as well, because everything is so different from Germany so its very cool to see all these little differnces that make a big differnces together. What i really enjoyed with my first host family was the trip to the vaal. It was sooo awesome :) and of course the lion and rhino parc, where i could pet a cheetah .. i think i ve never been this near to a cheetah before in my life. Also we went to the musical cats , what was really cool. The only problem is , that i have sometimes problems with the language especially when we watch movies or going to musicals, but i think it will get better after a time. I ve already started dreaming in english .. lol.. 2 weeks ago i moved to my new host familys house. We have a lot of fun together and i wish i coukd stay there forver haha ;P I have 4 host familys and this is my second .. i already know the other two. They are at Marian College as well and I am already friends with them. 1 week ago we celebrated my birthday at my host familys house. it was a lot of fun and i am really thankfull to had this chance. At my birthday, which was on the 16th I went to the krugers parc with a friends and her family. It was awesome, we ve seen all the big five and all of them had little babys :) soo cute :) i think there es not much left to tell, except that i really enjoy my time :)

Dineo Molautsi (2009/11/02)

Maddie Johnson (2009/10/26)

During the month of October, I had the privilege of seeing Black Tie ensemble which was an amazing singing group. As well I had the chance to go to Itsoteng, where I saw what my Rotary Club is doing for these people. It was amazing and as I got into the car I was fighting back tears because these people have absolutely nothing. I felt so privileged after that. I also had the chance to go up to a private game reserve. I believe we saw over twenty different species! My favorite was the baby rhino. It was absolutely adorable. My stay in South Africa has been amazing so far and its all due to my fantastic Rotary Club of Sandton!

I went down with his family and they took me to the Tsitikamma National Park and we had the chance to do a canopy tour. As well they took me to the Cango Caves which are South Africa's most famous caves. It was an amazing trip, one I felt so privileged to be on.

Alyssa Neimark (2009/09/01)

Another great experience I have had this month is going to Kwalata Game Reserve on a Biology Camp with my school. We got to dissect a buck and a rat to examine parts of the body that was previously studied in Biology class. The only problem with that was posting pictures from it on facebook and having people back home thinking South Africans torture animals.

Pontsho Tshebeletso Nooe (2009/09/01)

hey guys, i dont know if i wanna come home, loving germany too much! hope you guys are feeling the same! lotsa love!! x x x

Alyssa Neimark (2009/08/20)

The greatest part about being in this country is ordering a cream soda and it coming out GREEN. I have also learned a lesson since I've been here: do not plug in 5 different connectors to plug in things from America... you might just short out the power and cause the host family's computers and everything to die.

Trace Cummings (2009/08/19)

I'm just really glad I have been able to avoid saying anything extremely and utterly embarrassing.

Charlie Lertphorncharoen (2009/08/18)

Ali Coldrey (2009/06/19)

I have just come back from the Amazon.... WOW I mean the jungle... it was so amazing we got a chance to interact with a local trib and they taught us the customs of the indian tribs. We went alligator night spotting and saw a + - 3m long alligator jump out the water and slam back down. We also got to feed and swim with the indangered pink dolphin. We stayed in boats and slept in hammoks. This was a once in a lifetime experience and i would recommened it to anyone!

Lee Gericke (2009/06/18)

I can't believe that it's been six months since I've been in the United States! Time flies when you're having fun. I'm excited to go on the Rotary East Coast trip for two weeks. We are going to have tons of fun. I love 2009!

Dineo Molautsi (2009/06/02)

OK!! so the one thing that has stood out for me in these first four months is the growth experience.. I've gone through so many emotional and psycological tests that when I look back upon, I cannot believe that I endured all of them.. It is unconcious growth taking place and it has made me so so tolerant of so many things.. summer is here and I'm ready to rumble. It was hard in the begining but now I've become a die hard south african elmiran!!

Isaac Noge (2009/06/01)

Oh no Exams are soon>

Kekeletso Mokgothu (2009/06/01)

Oi! Bonjour! Konichiwa! (hope I spelled it correctly). To cut to the chase - I am having a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just concluded the most amazing weekend ever, but I am going to miss me fellow exchanges because the are all leaving within a month. And somehow I am unable to prevent the tears from running down my cheeks. Don't you think it is amazing how you form such a great bond with each other? You literally become family! And then everybody just has to leave... Eish! But otherwise, all is well and swell. Tonito. Hugito etc. Love, key-key.

Pontsho Tshebeletso Nooe (2009/05/30)

Well this is officially the month i fall in love with Germany! I mean it tookk three months but i'm there now!! I absolutely LOVE the weather now! I live in probably the most perfect city, because even though it is small, it has all the availability for fun, but also all the scenery as if it weren't a city at all! I ride the bus in the morning and see fields and fields of bright yellow canolla flowers! It is absolutely amazing!!! I'm starting to love the people more and more each day too! It takes a while for Germans to be themselves around you! But it still is totally worth it! I'm also pretty excited because next week is my birthday, gonna be 17 in Germany should be awesome!! Overall i'm feeling good! Hope guys are also having a rocking time!!! xxx

Kekeletso Mokgothu (2009/05/01)

Yoh! can you believe the questions I have been getting? Are you allowed to eat pizza where you are from? Do you have hot chocolate in Africa. Oh and it's funny how everybody calls it Africa by the continent and not South Africa by country. Ay but it always makes me laugh and smile. But I think it is a good thing that people don't know some things because what would one explain or demonstrate if everybody knew everything? To my dear fellow exchange students: Please confirm with me if I am the only who feels like they are about to explode due to weight gain or if the feeling is mutual... yours faithfully Kekeletso M. Ey Chad! Do still remember what we read about saying sexy the south African way? as in " Seksy" Lol! Ai. Anyway to all the outbounds from district 9300, 2009/2010. I hope you are all enjoying yourself and keep well! Love you all baie!

Hello,I stay in South Africa a exatly 2 months and 5 days! I´m loving South Africa and I went to Sun city 2 weekends ago,is the best place,I loved, today I did go to Pretoria for watch the game of Cricket the game were too fun and South Africa won! On April I will to be in hollidays, and on next week I´m going to Fishriver Sun with my family,I´m very excited for this!!!

Kekeletso Mokgothu (2009/04/04)

It's funny how everyone I meet calls me Kiki pronounced Key-key and not Keke pronounced care-care. I recently travelled to Guelph university in Guelph to meet my other host sister Aiden Barnett, so they had College Royale with animal displays included and there was a room half filled with snakes. And we all know that me and snakes have never and I don't think will ever become best friends. You can make your own conclusion on what my reaction was on being in a room completely surrounded by lively and breathing cold-blooded reptiles. I also attended my school's dance last night and the theme was "tight and bright", just imagine: teenagers or high school students wearing outrageously tight and bright attires in the same location: HAVOC! I am enjoying every moment of being an exchange student! Keke

FINLAND!!!!!!!! Where do I even begging? It’s been such a busy first month. On my way to Finland I had no problems to change any flights and everything went just fine. I and Beverly (girl from Durban) got save here in Finland and we enjoyed every moment of it. The First week I spend some time with Beverly’s mother’s friend in Helsinki because of the first language course that only started the 24th of Jan. We spend a lot of time in museums, churches, interesting restaurant etc. I even got the chance to build my first snowman in + temperatures and interesting enough along the way we met two people that were exchange students themselves. From the 24th – 31st we had our language course where we did a lot of exercises and enjoyed learning Finnish. We also did a lot of traditional things like make pancakes on the open fire, sauna and I even swam in the ice lake after sauna. I met my first host Family on the 31st of January. They are very nice. With six host siblings between the ages of 7 and 16 I can promise that I am always busy at home doing something with one of them. My host mom and dad can’t be better parents to ask for. They are very helpful and I am thankful to have them. My host mom is also my counsellor. We live in a small town in the middle of Finland called Äänekoski. I am in Äänekosken Lukio (Äänekoski High school) in the 1st year of high school. My subjects in school are: Finnish, English grammar, English spoken, Religion, Music and I also went to the art class in some of my free lessons. I met a lot of new friends and we all go spinning on Friday’s and I also went jogging for 8km with my host sisters’ football team. It has been quite a busy fist month and I enjoyed every moment of it and hope to have the next 11moths the same.

Rozelle de Wet (2009/03/01)

Hey everybody how are you guys/ U.S.A is great I love it here!

Tegan Burger (2009/02/26)

Well i travelled with my host family to the Baltic Sea, it was really great there! Loved Lubeck so much! My german is comming along! Doing a course which seems to be helping!haha it cant get worse! But the weather is improving, its moving up from 2 degrees to chilly 7!!!yay!!!haha but i love the snow and the people are interesting to say the least!!!

Isaac Noge (2009/02/25)

The US rocks. It is so chilly here but hot at the same time

pieter rossouw (2009/02/18)

hylton miller (2009/02/17)

i just want to say thank you!!!! this is the best thing that can ever happen to you, i have made friends that i will keep for life, and that i get to see a totally different way of life. i don't know how im going to go back to live back home. so to any body who is thinking of going and to those who are going to go on exchange, i say go for it, it will be the best things ever to happen

Tebogo Mokoena (2009/02/09)

United States rocks big time! The people are great and there's so much to do. I blend in perfectly and going to Rotary conferences is always the highlight. The inbounds are outgoing and know how to have clean fun. The outbounds are exciting to be around. The rotex and rebounds are inspiring. I can never ask for a better excahange. I LOVE AMERICA !!!

Ali Coldrey (2009/02/03)

Wow public transport although confusing is such a pleasure!!! Last week i used the busses, trains and taxi´s, i don´t think i have ever used them in South Africa before so im enjoying it non stop! Hahahahahahaha Learning a new language is both amusing and really difficult! The words don´t sound like anything just like gobbly gook... When people try to translate for you in a very broken English it makes even less sence then it did before you started! So good luck to all and just try your best!!!

Julia Schneider (2009/02/03)

hey guys! i hope u all have an amazing experience here in South africa!! we have to hook up again! i miss u guys

Miltenberger Katharina (2009/02/03)

Pontsho Tshebeletso Nooe (2009/02/02)

everyone knows about the four rotary D's , a week ago we went to a party me and my australian friend so at this party there was lots of alcohol everyone was drinking eccept me and aaron so before my host mom left us she told security that we are exchange students and wwe are not allowed to consume any alcohol, so as the party went on one of the security guys would walk up to me and take my drink and SNIFF it, that was nasty, but i enjoyed myself:-)

Rozelle de Wet (2009/02/01)

Hey everyone! Galesburg,Illinois is great and cold, with lots of snow. Hope everyone has a great week!!! Rozelle

pieter rossouw (2009/01/30)

Tegan Burger (2009/01/30)

Well i take it that i am the only exchange student who missed their connecting flight! Frankfurt airport should definately put in some distance signs as i'm very sure i walked 2km to my gate! O.R Thambo's gate was a 2 minute stroll! I was lucky though, got a connecting flight a few hours later and even luckier that my host family don't live too far away from the airport so it wasn't a problem for them! It's really cold in Germany, us South Africans don't know cold! But i'm loving every moment of it!!

Dineo Molautsi (2009/01/24)

First time seeing and touching snow is great!! The snow feels soft, I could live in it!! Went sledding today and I had quiet a paunfull fall into a hole... That wasn't cute.

Tebogo Mokoena (2009/01/22)

THIS EXCHANGE IS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE WHERE I GET TO DISOVER A WHOLE LOT OF NEW AND XCITING THINGS. IT'S ALL ABOUT YOUR INTENTIONS. IF YOU GOT INTO IT FOR FUN , THAN HAVE FUN! JUST REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU COME FROM. LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE, LIVE IT!

Isaac Noge (2009/01/21)

Travelling up and down Europe and inside Hungary has been really awesome...especially in the Summer, which unfortunatly is ending:(.For the last month I have been living at the Balaton Lake. Its the biggest lake in Central Europe and also known as the Hungarian sea.It really looks and feels like the sea(just fish and beavers live here,no sharks.)Its stunning! It was a lot of fun to have swam everyday and going on a yacht for the first time.I love Hungary very much!So many memories that will last a lifetime!

Lesego Marule (2008/08/30)

I just wanted to find out what are the steps for planning to get back home. I remember that I have my plane ticket in the purse we received from you and all but is there anything else i need to do in terms of possibly booking a specific date and that sort of thing? other that that all is good. there is a wedding coming up soon...my older host brother is getting married. hope now that the weather has changed over there all is good.

Sayaka Aoki (2008/08/19)

I went to Mabula Game Lodge. It's like a national park and if you go on geme drive, you'll see various animals like warthog, rhino, giraffe, crocodile, springbok, monkey and so on... The sunset and sunrise is so beautiful. There you can also enjoy swimming, playing some sports and meals.

WHEN IT COMES TO THE SCHOOL, IT IS ALOT DIFFERENT THEN WHAT I AM USED TO. THE SCHOOL UNIFORMS AND CALLING THE TEACHERS SIR ORE MAM. IT IS DEFFINETELY MUCH MORE FORMEL AND A BIT MORE STRICT. IT IS SOMETHING TO GET USED TO. I HAVE SO FAR TRIED THE S.A BRIE AND I ENJOYED IT VERY MUSH, ALSO I HAVE BEEN OUT SHOOTING PAINTBALL, FOR THE FIRST TIME. IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST FUNNIEST THINGS I'VE EVER TRIED AND I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO DO THAT AGAIN.

yo yo yo iam soo sad that all of my friend ( the oldies ) are going home ! Iam GONNA MISS U GUYS A LOT ! cheers

Verena Lonzeck (2008/06/08)

It hurts so much to just even think about the thought, that I have to go home in 3 weeks. Really guys, u must enjoy your year and live every day as if it would be your last one (in your hostcountry), because after 11 months you will turn around and u can't remember where the year has gone.... I know, it sounds really greasy and stupid, but unfortunately it's true... So enjoy every second.... I really just don't wanna go home... Ever....

Charmaine Williams (2008/06/05)

Hey everyone, enjoy every second the time goes sooooo quickly!!!!!!!! Party, party, party the whole time its the best and Rio de Janeiro was beautiful everyine has to see it!!!! Be good and enjoy Lots of love Brasillllllllllll

Loved the WA SAFARI, totally awesome!

Jonas Damgaard Harreskov (2008/05/28)

I was surfing in Jefferys bay last month (April). As i was surfing on a small wave heh (:, i saw something grey in the water. I came out ad fast as i could. I went over to my host brother and said i saw this grey thing there and it maybe was a shark?? He was just smiling and set it was a Dolpin that was swimming right next to me (:

Frinette Hall (2008/05/23)

I love Austria it is the best place ever, made so much friends and one of these days I have to say goodbey to my oldies... Snif Snif. CAN`T WAIT FOR EUROPE TOUR!! ONE MORE SLEEP Viel gruße und liebe, Frinette Bussi

Chris Tucker (2008/05/21)

While I was in Marseille I watch a soccer match between 2 big french teams and did the same in Paris. Go watch a live soccer match but not between clubs like Arsenal or Chelsea, like a town club, with fans that would give their life for their club. That shows you real love for a sport. Go to the Louvre as well. If you an art freak like me.

Renato Morellin Scovino (2008/05/20)

From the 25th-3rd of May i was in the land of the big five!THe kruger park was a beautiful life long experience!!! Seeing all the animals was amazing. I am so happy to have seen the big five and not to mention wild dogs, there are less than 300 in the whole reserve! Everyday that I am here I am enjoying South Africa more and more!!!!!!!!!

Alray Rudman (2008/05/05)

I went to Knysna on the 19th of march to the 30th of March. while there we went to the cango caves and the Safari Ostrich farm. In the caves we went on the adventure tour! It was a Fantastic experience climbing through tiny gaps in the formation of the caves and with limited oxygen i survived to tell the tale! At the ostrich farm i learned about the anatomy of the ostrich and i got a chance in a life time to sit on one, my host sister got to ride on it!

Kevin Hutcheson (2008/04/11)

Met all the exchange students at our District Conference, and really got to know some of them well and I am sure they will be life long friends!

Its AMAZING 4) They also weren't lying about the Swiss being incredibaly punctual... No "African time" here 5) EXCHANGE ROCKS!!

Chris Tucker (2008/02/21)

Chris Tucker (2008/01/30)

I went with my host father, sister and brother to a ski circuit up in the mountains, was incredible seeing snow for the first time. Being in a school with different languages and students has been quite an experience but so far has been a very good experience.

ABSOLUTELY LOVING EVERY SECOND! Learning, experiencing and appreciating so much! I have seen and experienced so much that my eyes are seeing things through a different light... I can feel that i have changed and have had many comments about that too. I have made the french and so many others aware of South Africa that the first visitors are arriving at the end of january. My Rotary club is great and i really enjoy going to the meetings. My host families have been so different but all fantastic! My school is reasonable and understanding, and i have been chosen twice by the school to represent them. I have made plenty of friends and do not know how i am going to leave my life here in France... Thank you once again for this opportunity. See you all soon

Rebecca Trout (2007/11/09)

Keeping it thai all the way homies!! full moon was amazing, and I love all my newbies. Exchange is the best just when it's about to end. Murphy's law!

Kruger was cool, we saw almost everything: elephants, rhinos, zeebras, impala and other antilopes, hippos, crocodiles, leopard, wildgogs, african wild cat, honeybadgers, giraffes and so on, When I went back school after Kruger all my friends come to me : "We missed u so much!" :) My mum comes here in Dec for two weeks, that's gonna be nice.

Megan Moll (2007/11/03)

I hate winter!!!!! It's soooooooo cold!!!!!!!!! And having to ride to school at 7 in the morning when it's 3 degrees doesn't really help much... it's quite exhausting having to freeze and defrost all the time... looking forward to a good ol' jozi summer!!!=P

Ryan  Moran (2007/11/02)

WOW my experiences here have all been so wonderful. One experience that I really enjoyed was when I got FREE VIP tickets to Boktown on the night of the Rugby Worldcup Finals. Audrey Van Gilder (2007/10/01)

You know how they say that the world gets smaller when you see more of it? I'm beginning to believe that, because I was just in Durban over the school holiday and out of however many million people live there, I ran into Pierre from France! We didn't even know we'd be there at the same time, so it was completely random luck to get to say hi. :]

Hanna Mansukoski (2007/09/28)

Matric dance was nice experience, I was though waitress. Some pictures from there and my friends: http://irc-galleria.net/archive.php?nick=Hanina&image_id=67402443 R.C.L camp was very cool, we had camoflouging, obstical courses, problemsolving activities, jacob's ladder and lot of fun! Douglas Armando Moreira Rocha (2007/09/19)

I have done stax of travelling and meet a ton of intresting people. I have never had so much fun in my life and exprienced a whole bunch of new things all at once. I even got to eat a deep fried candy bar which, even though you can taste the calories in it melting on to your hips, was very delicious.

I have had the most unforgettable experiences here in France. Whoever says travelling isn't contagious was wrong!!!! To go out and explore and EXPERIENCE is something that no-one who hasn't done it can appreciate. It opens one's eyes so wide! The Rotary way is best as you live the culture...

Canada is an amazingly diverse country. There have been times when I got the impression that I was in China, not Canada! The people here are really awesome, and they will help anyone fit right in to their society! The snowboarding is also really great, and it is so much colder than Africa! It was 10C the other day, and I was saying how warm it is!

Rebecca Trout (2007/03/25)

If you are ever in thailand get a thai massage. It's great!

Douglas Armando Moreira Rocha (2007/03/17)

Well, Exchange Students, don`t go to any hairdresser without company, because I didn't understand what they wanted to do with my heir, and in the end I ask them to shave it ... HORRRIBLE hahhahahahhahahaha

Okay so thjailand is interesting I've been havin fun but there are some changes I have to get used to like, takin off my shoe4s when I get in the gouse and eating wierd food with a spoon and a fork instead of with a knife and fork, and I saw an elephant on the road the other day, it was wierd. Hope everybody is havin fun. Specially all the other South africans in thailand and all the peeps I met at orientations. Live it up and hola at me when you wanna talk.
